App Store MRR for every iOS app, on one screen
App Store Connect shows sales and downloads, but not MRR, and it shows one account's reports at a time. With several iOS apps, working out each one's MRR and churn means downloading reports and doing the sums yourself.
SoulStack's App Store Connect connector, in beta, reads Apple's Sales and Trends reports with a read-only Sales key and puts every iOS app's MRR, one-time sales and churn side by side.
What it reads from Apple
- MRR from Apple's daily Subscription report, at the price the customer pays, before Apple's cut
- One-time sales: paid downloads and one-time in-app purchases, with refunds kept apart
- Churn over the last 30 days, from the Subscription Event report
- Only the app you name by its Apple ID, even when one account holds several apps
- Free trials don't count toward MRR, and figures run a day behind, since Apple publishes each day's report the next day
How to set it up
Each connection reads one app, named by its Apple ID. For each iOS app you run:
- In App Store Connect, open Users and Access → Integrations → App Store Connect API, and make a Team key with the Sales role.
- Download the .p8 file. Apple only lets you download it once.
- Copy the issuer ID and key ID, your vendor number from Payments and Financial Reports, and the app's Apple ID from App Information.
- In SoulStack, add the app and connect App Store Connect with those details. It reads the last 90 days of reports.
With RevenueCat or the web
If an app also uses RevenueCat, SoulStack takes MRR from RevenueCat and leaves Apple's out, so nothing is counted twice. Apple still adds churn and one-off sales.
If it also sells on the web through Stripe or Paddle, connect that too and the app's revenue is added up in one place.
In beta
App Store Connect is a new connector and is marked beta. If a number looks off, tell us and we'll fix it fast.
Questions
- Is the Sales key read-only?
- SoulStack only downloads sales reports with it. A key with the Sales role can't change your apps, prices or users.
- Do I need RevenueCat as well?
- No. App Store Connect works on its own. If you already use RevenueCat, either works, and connecting both adds churn from Apple without counting MRR twice.
- Why is today missing?
- Apple only publishes a day's report the next day. SoulStack reads up to yesterday, Pacific time, and fills in each day once Apple has it.
- How many iOS apps can I track?
- 1 app on the free plan, 10 on Pro and 50 on Studio.
